Scotland has moved away from heavy industry such as shipbuilding and steel making in recent years to become a more service-based economy, although oil and gas still plays a major part in the economy. Care funding in Scotland is different to other parts of the UK and all older people are eligible for care funding – £145 per week for personal care, with an additional £65 available for nursing care.
