Cambridgeshire is the 15th largest county in England by area and the 29th largest by population, it borders Lincolnshire to the north, Northamptonshire/Bedfordshire to the west, Norfolk/Suffolk to the east and Essex/Hertfordshire to the south. The county is considered to be a very flat and low lying, the highest point being a mere 480ft above sea level and the lowest point, Holme Fen, 9ft below sea level. The county contains the area known as Silicon Fen, a collection of high-tech businesses situated, in the main, around the city of Cambridge, with many of the businesses having links to the university. The university itself is the fourth-oldest in existence and is considered one of the best in the world. As of the 2001 census there were 38,764 people aged over 70 living in Cambridgeshire, approximately 7% of the total population. Within the county there are approaching 200 residential care and nursing care homes providing services for older people and people with learning disabilities.
