You may decide to pay for your care home placement wholly independently. If that is the case, you should make sure you have a full understanding of all the benefits to which you may be entitled. However, you should always consider approaching the local authority even if you do not anticipate that they will be able to offer financial assistance. They have a useful range of information and advice available and you will not know if you qualify for assistance unless you ask.
