Brent is situated to the north west of central London and was formed from the former municipal boroughs of Wembley and Willesden. Its name comes from the River Brent, which runs through the borough. Brent borders Ealing to the south west, Harrow to the north west, Barnet to the north east, Camden to the east and the 'tri-boroughs' of Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, and Hammersmith & Fulham to the south. According to the 2001 census, Brent has the country's highest percentage of people born outside the UK - nearly 50%.
