Havering is located north of the river Thames and to the east of central London. It borders the boroughs of Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham to the west, Bexley across the river to the south and the county of Essex to the east. More than half of the London Borough of Havering is protected green belt land, meaning its principal towns are densely populated. Havering also has the lowest levels of unemployment of any London borough.
