Enfield is the most northerly of London's boroughs bordering Barnet to the west, Haringey to the south, Waltham Forest to the east and the counties of Hertfordshire and Essex to the north and north east respectively. The world's first ATM was opened in Enfield, which has a history of electrical production. The world's first colour televisions were manufactured in the borough, as were the first dishwashers. Enfield also has a history in munitions - including the Lee-Enfield rifle.
