Sussex Grange is a spacious home
for 20 elderly people in the peaceful coastal town of Selsey, eight miles south
of Chichester in West Sussex. The home is ideally situated in a quiet
residential street just a short level walk from the high street and the
seafront.
Introduction
Our underlying philosophy at Sussex
Grange is to provide a home that offers all the care, choices and opportunities
that we would want for ourselves as we grow older, including:
- Clean and spacious accommodation. - A wide variety of home-cooked meals using fresh meat
from the village butcher and fruit and vegetables from
a local farm shop. -
A range of entertainment and activities within the home. - Outings to
locations chosen by our residents. - A level of care that meets every need whilst helping
to maintain as much independence as you desire.
Sussex Grange
is privately owned by Drs Tom and Rachel Jameson. Tom Jameson is the registered
manager and works full-time within the home. Rachel Jameson works part-time as a
local GP and has regular but informal input into the
home.
Accommodation
Much of the splendour, character and
appearance of the original Tudor-style house has been retained with features
including a panelled dining room and Victorian drawing room. Blended in with the
older character of the building we have introduced modern features to enhance
the comfort and security of the residents including an electronic fire alarm and
fire safety equipment, all of which is checked regularly by an officer from the
Fire Brigade.
All bedrooms are of a good size with
individual thermostatic control for each radiator, a television aerial point and
a direct dial telephone socket. In addition to this every bedroom has an en
suite bathroom with washbasin, toilet and bath. Safety features within the
bedrooms include electronic call bells, radiator covers and thermostatic
regulators to all hot taps.
The garden is a particular feature of
Sussex Grange, which is situated in a plot of almost 2/3 of an acre. A level
footpath leads around the perimeter of the garden weaving between flowerbeds and
lawns. There is a large covered fishpond and there are many trees, which provide
a high degree of privacy for the home.
Facilities and Services
Regular entertainment and activities are provided within the home
and we also arrange group outings and theatre trips. In addition to this we
subscribe to the Venture Bus, which provides transport for elderly people within
the Selsey region to attend clubs and churches or to go shopping. We also have a
small in-house shop and library available for residents'
use.
At Sussex Grange arrangements exist for various
therapeutic services within the home or elsewhere by arrangement. Services
include chiropody, dentistry, hairdressing, physiotherapy and optical care.
Registration with a GP can be with a practice of the resident's choosing (if the
GP is in agreement).
