HILL  BROW

Hill Brow provides both long and short-term residential care for the elderly who find it increasingly difficult to cope with the burdens of running a home.

It is a family run home and the family have over 30 years experience of running care homes.  Alison Lee, the proprietor, has a nursing degree and is a specialist in gerontology and is always available on call.  Great emphasis is placed on the quality of care and the right environment.

We aim to provide homely surroundings, allowing residents to live as independently as they wish.   They have access to the numerous facilities and outings provided by the home through a full activities programme.

Hill Brow is set in the heart of tranquil, sunny landscaped gardens which are accessible to all with pathways that are suitable for wheelchairs.

Accommodation provides large ensuite rooms and ground floor rooms have direct access to the gardens.  Alarms, TV & telephone points are available in each room.  The residents are encouraged to take ownership of the rooms by bringing in their own furniture and personal items.

We have regular visits from the hairdresser, chiropodist and physiotherapist.  Community opticians, doctors, nurses and the mobile library visit regularly and communion is held monthly at the home.

We pride ourselves on our experienced and fully trained permanent staff.  Our Managers are trained to the RMA standard and all their teams are NVQ trained.  We never use agency staff.  We are proud too of our IIP status awarded in 1999. Our regulatory authority, CQC, has recently awarded us an Excellent 3 Star status in our inspection and we have also been awarded an Excellent status from our Environmental Healoth inspection.

Residents enjoy a full and varied activities programme and outings to the theatre and nearby countryside are amongst the most popular.  The gardening club enjoys planting out the tubs for the summer and growing tomatoes and salads for the kitchen.  Wholesome food is prepared daily and most dietary requirements can be met.

Residents and their families are encouraged to contribute to the day to day running of the home.

The ethos behind Hill Brow is to provide dignified, high quality and affordable care which is individualized and focused on what our residents would like during the later years of their lives adding a very personal touch to promote a fulfilling life at what can be a distressing time.

In September we start our exciting new building project on the land adjacent  to Hill Brow.  We are building a 35 bed nursing unit and a 22 bed dementia unit alongside.  The latter will provide much needed day care facilities as well as being a centre of excellence for dementia care and studies.  We are aiming to open the new home in January 2011.

Our new website is due for launch at the beginning of July 09.  It will be much more informative and keep you up to date with our activities, outings, menus and the progress of our new building.
