Viera Gray is a purpose-built Home which caters for 38 residents with physical and mental health disabilities. The only residential care home in Barnes, the Home is set in the grounds of a Sheltered Housing Scheme and has a pretty garden. This garden can be seen and accessed via the ground floor conservatory. There is a further secluded garden with a fish pond and seating. Our Home is 2 Star Rated by CSCI.
Residents are cared for on an individual basis and our aim is to achieve a homely, friendly atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to be independent and are supported in this by a named social care worker who assists with all aspects of care for that individual resident and all of our staff are NVQ trained. Residents enjoy a diverse range of home-made food prepared on the premises by a qualified, full-time, cook. We also celebrate special occasions and cultural festivities. We have a daily Activities Programme which includes, amongst other things, concerts, art classes and music and movement and residents are encouraged to take part but are free to take part in as much or as little as they wish.
Visitors are very welcome to Home and family interaction is encouraged within the Home. There is a “Friends Group” of volunteers who help the Home with special outings and activities including trips to the seaside, theatre and the local Wetlands Centre using the Home’s own minibus and they also organise many fund raising events for the Home which have been extremely successful.
