At Shalom we feel we are able to provide a high standard of
care in a beautiful building, reflecting all the basic values in a homely
relaxed atmosphere.

Location, Accommodation and
Facilities:
Shalom is situated in the quiet residential district of
Thorpe St. Andrew in Norwich, overlooking the Yare Valley and adjacent to local
amenities.
We are registered for 24 residents, accommodated in either
single rooms or double bedded twin rooms. Most bedrooms have en-suite facilities
and all have vanity units and easy access to bathrooms and toilets.
We have a member of staff dedicated to the stimulation of
our residents. Our stimulation program includes: crafts and arts, rug making,
visiting entertainers, one on one reminiscence sessions, old time sing-a-longs
and story tapes. Above all we address residents individual interests and hobbies
and incorporate this into our program. For those residents who enjoy walking
there is easy access to local shops.
Facilities include a full size lift and full central
heating. Every room is equipped with a 24 hour alarm system and all bedrooms
have a TV and telephone point.
The home is installed with a 24 hour nurse call alarm
system throughout. We also have a luxurious bathing room complete with
jacuzzi.
Our premises comprises of two separate lounges, one for TV
viewing and one quiet room overlooking the garden and the Yare River
Valley.
Our aim is to provide a homely, happy and caring atmosphere
for both residents and staff in a spirit of companionship, security, privacy and
independence.
There is always someone on hand to offer help and advice. We
welcome guests for short, medium and long term care and can offer respite care
and day care if required.
Visitors are made very welcome and are always offered tea
and refreshments. We have a no smoking policy for the benefit of resident's
health and safety. As we already have household pets it is regretted that we
cannot allow residents' pets. We do have our own aviary and a large tank of
tropical fish.
Housekeeping facilities include an in house laundry, regular
visits by a Chiropodist, Dentist and visiting Clergy.
We have our own fully equipped hairdressing room where
visiting hairdressers can attend to residents needs in comfort.
We offer a high standard of home cooked meals that cater for
the individual needs of our residents, using fresh vegetables and seasonal
fruit. Meals are served in our light and airy dining
room.
