Wensley House is a Residential Care Home for the elderly set in a forest location in the historic town of Epping in the County of Essex.

The Home offers a high standard of accommodation and care to the Residents in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

The Home can accommodate up to thirty-one [31] male or female Residents 65 years and over, in either single or double/shared bedrooms [some are en-suite], all are tastefully decorated and equipped with the latest nurse-call system, television and telephone points ... a six person passenger lift provides easy access to the upstairs bedrooms.

All our meals are cooked on the premises by experienced chefs ... we use fresh fruit and vegetables and our meat is of the highest quality from the local butcher. Residents are offered a choice from our tempting menu and we cater for special diets.

At present there is a choice of lounge with televisions; one of the lounges is a bright and airy conservatory overlooking our well-maintained gardens with rabbits romping in the gardens.

We have an activities programme with external trainers and entertainers visiting The Home on a regular basis.

We have many professional visitors to The Home including GPs, District Nurses, Dentists, Opticians and Physiotherapists who visit as necessary, a Chiropodist visits once every six weeks, a Holistic Therapist visits monthly and the Hairdresser visits weekly.

In addition we feel it is important for Residents to maintain close links with the community. The local Church of England Vicar visits once a month to hold a service and give Holy Communion. The Catholic Priest visits Wensley House on a regular basis.

We also have the local schoolchildren from Ivy Chimneys entertain us occasionally with their school band and sing Carols at Christmas.

The Residents needs are met in a friendly and efficient way, preserving and maintain their dignity, individuality and privacy whilst always being sensitive to their ever changing needs.

Our staff are well trained and experienced providing care twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The majority of our staff have their NVQ Level 2 & 3 with the rest of our staff working towards their NVQ Level 2.

Our staff receive training on all the Mandatory Courses and the training for some of these courses is provided in-house as our Manager [Miss Sharon Osborne] is an accredited trainer for POVA, Manual Handling & Dementia ... Sharon also has her RMA & NVQ Level 4.

Sharon is assisted by Pam Hallen and Margarette Endean who have their NVQ Level 3 and many years of experience in caring behind them.

You are welcome to visit at any time, for further information please contact Sharon or one of her Deputies who will be happy to help you
