Chalkney House
Chalkney house has been converted from a victorian county house with a
purpose built extension added in 1990 and a further extension in 2005. It
is set in two acres of land situated in the north Essex village of White
Colne. At the rear of the home is an enclosed garden, laid to lawn, flower
beds and patio areas. Nearby are the towns of Halstead and
Colchester. A regular bus service between them stops at the entrance to
the home.
Services and facilities
- A spacious day room which overlooks a patio area and
garden.
- The home has a landscaped garden with seating
facilities.
- Two television lounges, a quiet seating area and a
new sun lounge.
- All bedroms and communal areas are equipped with an
emergency call system.
- Regular visits are made by a hairdresser, chiropodist
and optician.
- A local dentist also attends by appointment.
- Well supported by doctors and district nurses call as
and when required.
- Newspapers and magazines are delivered by arrangement
and the Essex County Council Mobile Library Service calls on a regular basis.
- All residents have access to religious facilities.
Social activities
- Social activities arranged within the home reflect
the abitilites of the residents and therefore will vary, depending upon the
mix of capabilities at any given time. Resident's family, relatives and
friends are invited to all events.
- On a regular basis the home holds a christmas party
at which professional entertainment is provided. A strawberry cream tea,
taking advantage of the large garden, is held in the summer.
- The more mobile residents visit local pubs once every few months for a
lunchtime meal, either arranged by the home or by the local parish
council.
