Millbeck is a purpose built home, circa 1990. It is owned and maintained by Anchor Trust, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of support, care and housing for older people. Set in its own well-maintained grounds Millbeck is close to the local shops, pubs, library and post office. Most rooms have lovely views of the well-kept gardens.
At Millbeck we provide residential care for 30 frail older people (male and female) with varying abilities. Staff are on hand 24-hours a day to provide care and support
Accommodation • Single en-suite rooms with WC and washbasin • Telephone point in each room for your own direct line • Television point and connections for digital and satellite TV • Call bells in each room providing 24-hour help • Non-smoking rooms are available • Rooms decorated to high standard • We encourage personal items to be brought in to enhance your room • 2 cosy lounges with TV and one with a bar. Quiet area for reading and relaxing • Tea-making facilities are available to make drinks for you and your visitors • Specially equipped bathrooms so you can relax in comfort • Lift to upper floor
Dining • We have two dining rooms. Supper is served either in the lounges or in your room if you prefer • Breakfast is served in the dining room or you can enjoy a continental breakfast brought to your room • You can choose from the varied and seasonal menus each day • Choice of healthy and nutritious meals and any special dietary requirements catered for
Leisure activities • We have a library with large print books and video tapes plus a monthly visiting library • Newspapers can be delivered daily to your room • Millbeck has very attractive gardens with a pleasant area to sit out • Games are available such as board games and carpet bowls • Stereo system and an organ • We have a hairdressing salon and a bar • Residents and staff arrange events including arts and crafts, day trips and entertainers • You are encouraged to play a part in daily living activities which can include gardening and light house-keeping
Facilities • Wheelchair access and car parking are available • Pets are allowed by arrangement • We have a personal laundry facility • A pay telephone is available • Religious services and meetings are arranged
Health and personal care • Fortnightly surgery at Millbeck and local surgery. A GP is available on request • Hairdresser visits weekly • Chiropodist visits every 6-8 weeks or on request • Physiotherapist visits by arrangement • Dentist & Optician – visiting and local services available • Holistic therapy – details of local providers available
