About Us

Ford House is a beautiful grade two listed house surrounded by pretty gardens and courtyards. The original house has been tastefully extended and provides modern spacious accommodation for up to 46 residents

The house is situated in the heart of the community and is within walking distance of St. Neots which has all the facilities a busy market town has to offer. High street shops, post office, pub, doctors surgeries, churches, newsagents, a park and riverside walks.

Company

Ford House is owned by Safequarter, the Directors are Mr and Mrs Hutchins. Mrs Zoë Hutchins has over twenty years experience in the provision of care for the elderly. Mr Miles Hutchins has an extensive background in a business environment. Ford House is managed by Cequoix Morton who has worked with older persons exclusively since 1993. She is a Registered General Nurse with training in Challenging Behaviour in Older Persons and Dementia Care.

Staff

The Home has three Registered General Nurses each with more than 5 years experience of working with older persons and one Enrolled Nurse who has training in Palliative Care and Caring for Bereaved Persons. One nurse has Mental Health Training. Senior Carers are trained to NVQ level 2/3 in Care and Junior Carers work closely with Senior Carers and experienced Carers as part of their induction and continued training.

Client Profile

The Home caters for residents aged 65 years and older. Ford House does not discriminate on the sex of service users, so male and female residents are catered for within the accommodation provided.

Ford House is able to provide full personal and nursing care for residents thus avoiding the need for residents to move from the Home to another should their care needs alter in any way. For those residents who require personal care, their nursing needs are met by Community Nurses who visit Ford House as needed. Qualified Nurses are on duty 24 hours a day to care for those residents who require full nursing care and they are supported by a team of Senior and Junior Care Assistants.

Ford House also offers short term respite and/or convalescent care for those who need a break from home or who require care while their full time carer is on holiday. Prior to admission to Ford House, each prospective resident is given an initial assessment to ascertain whether the Home can provide an environment that meets their needs. Each resident has a trial period at the Home before making a committed decision to stay as is their right.

Residents at Ford House are actively encouraged to participate in the Residents Committee where they can voice their opinions on a generalised basis. Questionnaires are used to help improve the quality of care and service they receive from the Home.

Philosophy

Most importantly, Ford House places great emphasis on maintaining the privacy and dignity of its residents. Each resident has a right to respect, confidentiality in personal, medical, social or legal matters. We pride ourselves in providing the highest standards of care and hope each resident who enters Ford House will come to regard it as Home.
