Care at home
When living in your own home becomes increasingly difficult, numerous support services are available to help you stay independent for as long as possible.
Home care – also known as domiciliary care – is where a carer comes into your home to assist with tasks such as washing, dressing or cooking a meal. Services are flexible and reflect the amount of care needed. It could be for just half an hour a week, for several hours a day, or up to 24-hour live-in care. Services can be provided short-term, long-term or intermittently.

Likewise, alternative housing – other than a residential care home – is also available that may be more suitable to your needs. Sheltered housing, for example, consists of self-contained flats or houses with a community alarm service, on-site warden or scheme manager and often includes communal facilities such as a lounge, laundry, guest flat and garden.
